Sarah Uhing

Sarah Uhing flew in from Juneau, Wisconsin to Chapala to teach at the 2023 Wellspring International conference. The topics of bitterness and self-rejection were identified at the root of why she hesitated to step into the talent God had given her to use her voice to teach. Her dad Don worked as an Engineer who owned a machine shop. Don met Sarah his wife Alice while in high school in Milwaukee. Her parents have been married for 70 years and they raised 6 kids on a farm. Sarah fondly remembers how her dad took the time to read Bible stories to his kids as he taught them about the wonders of God. She excelled in her favorite topics in school and got bored with subjects that seemed irrelevant. She met her future husband as the day they both went to get work permits to help in the machine shop that their dads were partners in. Sarah married Tom at age 18 and God blessed them with 2 daughters right away. Sarah was the fourth to be born, and her mom was not happy to be pregnant again, especially with another daughter.  After 32 years of marriage, in 2015 her sister-in-law gave her a book entitled "Biblical Foundations of Freedom". In the church women were expected to be meek, and mostly silent and Sarah explains that she was just NOT wired that way in her mother's womb. Sarah read the book and listened to videos. She decided that she would get a few sessions of phone counseling and be freed from all her fears. In March of 2016, she prayed about it and got confirmation "Just Do It".  Sarah went direct to her dad and borrowed money to fly to Alaska for a 2 week course at Wellspring. The build up of bitterness after many disappointments life could then be quickly released and all would be well. While at Wellspring Sarah overheard a testimony about sexual abuse. Stilled and shaking, in her head Sarah was screaming, but her voice was silenced.
Trembling, she exited that Wellspring session and was found in the hall sobbing by another participant who stopped to pray with Sarah. With peace she went to bed. That night Sarah had a vivid dream of when she could not speak, at the age of one, and being sexually abused by a relative. As a woman, Sarah had always felt that she did not fit the mold of what was expected of her as a woman. She was not meek and mild, but she opted to keep her opinions to herself and rarely spoke up. When she returned to Wisconsin, her best friend said "Sarah, you are not the same person!" In her new found freedom, Sarah boldly began speaking her mind. It was never her goal to become a teacher or a counselor of Wellspring. Today, Sarah is available as a licensed Wellspring Counselor who gives God all the glory. "God reveals what He can heal and I heard Him call me into teaching." Appreciating the role model of her dad, she agreed to teach and feels at ease in front of an audience.  A favorite quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate and to make a difference by living and living well."  Her favorite scriptures are Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11. God gave us a voice for His purpose. Our heavenly Father's command is that we love God with all our hearts, and that we love one another as He loves us, and to love ourselves and use the gifts He assigned to us, for His glory. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and I was delivered to assist the Holy Spirit as He sets the captives of bitterness, resentment and anger FREE.  We live in a broken world and regardless of your church affiliation, we have all been wounded, and hurt people hurt others.  "The Biblical Foundations of Freedom" book by Art Mathias is not
about doctrines.  We all come from different cultures and backgrounds. Scripture calls us to "Confess our sins to one another so that we may be healed." The Holy Spirit leads us into the kind of freedom that only He can provide so that we may serve the Kingdom of light and others better. " A new command I give you; love one another. As I have loved you, so must you love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, IF you love one another." John  13:34 NIV. It is our responsibility to love others, it is a choice. For a brief glimpse click into Wellspring 2023 Mexico  All divisions are designed by the devil. Our Father is all about relationships and forgiveness and love is the cure for all that is wrong with society and the Body of Christ, His beloved Church. We are wise to demolish all arguments and petty disageemnts about how we worship our Creator. Our Father told us to love one another, not divide and split over things that have nothering to do with salvation.  We are to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We are to take every thought captive and choose which kingdom we are serving with that criticism, that difference of opinion and make it obedient to Christ, which is to set aside disagreements and LOVE ONE ANOTHER.  Be prepared to use our authority to silence the voice that seeks to destroy our faith in God.   The battle for dominion of our thoughts occurs daily. Wellspring teaches how to pray effectivley with 30 second prayers that keep our robes spotless and our lights shining to the glory of God. "You are judging by appearances. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do." 2 Corinthinas 10:7 NIV For more details about the upcoming 12th Wellspring event in Mexico
